I love writing a sentence that sticks with you. One of my most cherished memories is showing a friend “Nightmare Thread” (which is in the portfolio) and them asking me to send them a copy (because they liked it, not because they couldn’t be bothered reading it).
When I got to Stanford, I experimented with writing in lots of different mediums and it honestly taught me more than any class. Writing fiction taught me flow, writing screenplays taught me subtext, and writing comedy taught me how to be punchy. I learned how varied pieces could be in terms of what made them work - and that I had to be flexible. I think of writing like raising a kid (bear with me). At the end of the day, you’re just trying to get a piece to be the best version of itself.
When I’m not writing, I’m reading anything from literary fiction to cheesy horror or watching movies. I’m also a decent cook but, just like with writing, I love to experiment - which occasionally leads to disasters in the kitchen.
